Heart of Mexico Project: Key Change
In a town without any high school bands, a determined music teacher believes forming an elementary marching band will protect his students and his town.
Written as part of an immersion journalism class in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. The Heart of Mexico Project seeks to tell stories otherwise overshadowed by coverage of the country's drug trade and violence.

Part of group of stories on the Texas drought produced by UNT's Mayborn graduate journalism students for the Denton Record Chronicle. The series won a 2014 Community Service Award from the Texas AP Managing Editors.
